Bare pan-side stop for the first night of the Polentswa Wilderness Trail, a booked one-way 4x4 route in the far north of the Kgalagadi.
Sesatswe lies beside its pan in the red dunes of the northern Botswana Kgalagadi and is the first night's stop on the Polentswa (Gemsbok) Wilderness Trail, a booked one-way 4x4 route that leaves Polentswa and swings back to the Nossob valley. The leg in from Polentswa is about 100 km of sand and takes most of a day, through desert crossed by German camel troops in 1908 during the last fighting of the Herero and Nama war. Only the one convoy that has booked the trail that day camps here, so the evening is yours alone with the pan and the dunes. There is nothing at the site and a few steep dunes rule out trailers; bring all water and fuel.

First overnight stop on the Polentswa (Gemsbok) Wilderness Trail, about 101 km (around 5 hours) from Polentswa in the Nossob valley. It is about 33 km from Kaa Gate, but is reached along the trail from Polentswa; the next night is at Lang Rambuka and the trail ends in the Nossob valley.
