Locally owned budget camp on the Chobe floodplain at Muchenje, with eland grazing on the grounds and river views near Ngoma Gate.
A small, owner-run camp on the edge of the Chobe floodplain that trades lodge polish for river views, roaming eland and a personal welcome. It is a cheap and well-placed stop for self-drivers crossing between Botswana, Namibia and Victoria Falls.
Isuma is a citizen-run campsite on a fenced riverside property in Chobe West, where open lawns under acacia and leadwood trees look out over the Chobe floodplain and tame eland and impala wander between the tents. The owner offers guided walks, Subiya cultural stories around the fire and route advice, and a cultural village is being built. It sits about 10 minutes from the Ngoma entrance to Chobe National Park and roughly 10 km from the Namibian border, so it suits overlanders moving between Victoria Falls, Kasane, Savuti and Namibia.
