A convenient riverside stopover east of Maun that doubles as the base for an overland tour company. Practical rather than wild, with shade and river frontage.
Drifters Maun Lodge is the Botswana base of the Drifters overland and safari company, on the banks of the Boteti River about 30 km east of Maun on the A3 towards Nata. Campers share shady grounds under camel thorn trees with en-suite tented rooms, and the company's own safaris set off from here. It works well as a first or last night outside Maun, though tour groups start and finish here, so it is not a secluded spot.
