Six DWNP bush pitches just off Deception Valley, the Central Kalahari's best-known game area, about 40 km from Matswere Gate.
A cluster of six public bush pitches just off Deception Valley, the most visited game area of the Central Kalahari. Wild, unfenced and fully self-sufficient camping that must be booked with DWNP in advance.
This group of six numbered pitches (CK-DEC-01 to 06) sits in thick Kalahari bush just off Deception Valley rather than in it, so it feels a little less remote than the reserve's far-flung sites while keeping the valley's game drives close at hand. Sites 01 and 02, at the end of their own track, are the most private. The reserve has no water, fuel, food or phone signal, so arrive fully self-sufficient in a 4x4 and book well ahead.

Sandy single-spoor tracks with a 40 km/h limit; a 4x4 is compulsory. Deception Valley tracks can turn very muddy in the rains (November to March). Gate hours 06:30-18:30 (April-September) and 05:30-19:00 (October-March).
Enter at Matswere Gate on the reserve's north-eastern side; the Deception Valley campsites are about 40 km (roughly 1.5 hours) in along sandy tracks.
